Payment Policies & Processes
Tuition Fees. Tuition is based on the number of weeks per term. The fall term is shorter than the spring term, and therefore tuition is higher in the spring than it is in the fall.
TUITION FEES ARE NOT REFUNDABLE AFTER THE TRIAL PERIOD. The trial period ends the day before the second class meets. Students must formally withdraw from class by filling out the CLASS WITHDRAWAL FORM, available on our website. A verbal request is not an official withdrawal. (https://urbanhomeschoolers.com/resources/). Micro Schoolhouse programs do not receive a trial period.
Registration Fees. Registration fees hold your child's place in class and are not refundable. New this year. If you are with a charter school and you are having your charter cover the registration, the fee is $75 dollars per student. If you are with a charter school and are paying the registration fee out of pocket, the fee is $50 per student. Please request a separate purchase order for the registration fee. If you are not using a charter, the registration fee is $50 dollars per student. Registration fees are generally processed within a week of registration. You will receive an email notification when it is processed.
Payment Plans. Payment plans are available to families with balances over $500. For those families with payment plans, your payments will be processed during the first week of each month. Declined payments are charged a $25 penalty.
Charter Families. NOTE: IF WE DO NOT RECEIVE CONFIRMATION OF YOUR CHARTER'S CONTRIBUTION TOWARD YOUR CHILD'S TUITION, YOU WILL BE BILLED THE FULL AMOUNT. If a charter payment is received after a parent has made a payment, a refund will be processed at the next billing cycle.
It is the parent's responsibility to ensure that UHS has the information it needs to bill your account correctly. Payments are processed between the 1st and 3rd of each month. Please read the instructions in the section, Charter Participation.
Scholarship Funds. There are limited funds available for scholarship. Priority is given to continuing students. All scholarship awards must be arranged before the term begins. To request a scholarship, please fill out the Scholarship Request form on our website (https://urbanhomeschoolers.com/resources/).
Charter Participation
Urban Homeschoolers welcomes charter students and we are vendors for several charters.
Check our website to view the current list of charters for which we are vendors. If you do not see your charter on our list, send an email to accounts@urbanhomeschoolers.com to request support. For your account to be credited for your charter funds, you must complete the following before classes begin:
> Provide contact information for your charter teacher
> Fill out the Charter Funds Form (https://urbanhomeschoolers.com/resources/) to let us know how much of your funds you have available for Urban Homeschoolers. If you plan to use charter funds to pay for tutoring, please indicate that on the form as well.
For more information about charters and UHS, refer to our website here: http://urbanhomeschoolers.com/resources/charter-schools/
Charters require that you are approved for funds before classes begin. Be aware that if your child begins classes before they are approved for funds, fees for those class sessions are your responsibility. If you leave your charter before the end of the term, or if your charter does not make payment, responsibility for unpaid charter funds reverts to you.
You are responsible to complete the necessary paperwork, and to communicate with both your charter and with us about your funding.
PLEASE NOTE IF WE DO NOT RECEIVE A CONFIRMATION OF YOUR CHARTER'S CONTRIBUTION TO YOUR CHILD'S TUITION YOU WILL BE BILLED THE FULL AMOUNT. If a charter payment is received after a parent has made a payment a refund will be processed at the next billing cycle.
It is the parent's responsibility to ensure that UHS has the information it needs to bill your account correctly. Payments are processed between the 1st and 3rd of each month.
By selecting "I have read and agree," you are agreeing that you have read and agree to this policy as well as the information on our website at the links provided.
UHS Online
Urban Homeschoolers uses a learning management system, UHS Online, to support our students, parents, and teachers. How this system is used is determined by the age group, subject area, and teaching methods. Teachers use UHS Online to provide class updates, post homework, links for virtual classrooms and provide content.
Accounts are available for parents, guardians, and students. Charter teachers may be given access to UHS Online only upon parent's request. A unique email is required for each account.
You will receive more information about UHS Online before the term begins.
Attendance
Regular attendance is highly recommended. Students should arrive to class on time. Students should attend each class for maximum benefit and progress. Please call or email Urban Homeschoolers if your student is going to be absent. There are no make ups for absences. No refunds or credit is given for missed classes or field trips. If a class needs to be unavoidably canceled by UHS, a makeup class is scheduled for the end of the session.
Charter families, be aware, your charter may not pay for any classes your students miss. If that happens, any unpaid charter funds revert to the family.
Assumption of Risk
This is a release of liability and waiver of certain legal rights. I, the undersigned parent or legal guardian of the child/children listed above (herein referred to as "Child"), provide consent for my Child to participate in the classes, workshops, training, and/or outings provided by Urban Homeschoolers and other affiliated organizations or companies offering various events at any Urban Homeschoolers facility or remote location. I acknowledge that there are certain risks involved in these programs and I understand these risks and declare that my Child is safely capable of participating in these classes, workshops, training and/or outings. I do hereby release Urban Homeschoolers, its agents, employees or servants, whether paid or volunteer, from any liability related to injuries or accident, which may arise from my Child's participation in any Urban Homeschoolers class, workshop, meeting, or event. Photos & Videos
I understand that Urban Homeschoolers uses photographs and videos of its classes and events for promotional purposes and grant to Urban Homeschoolers the right to use and incorporate without compensation, in whole or in part, photographs, sound bites or video footage taken as a result of participation in Urban Homeschoolers.
Class Policies
Some classes require homework. When some students do not complete homework, it affects the progress of the whole class. Please DO NOT sign your child up for a class involving homework unless you intend to supervise and enforce completion of homework each week.
On-time attendance is expected in each class. If your child is late, please do not interrupt the class in progress. Please enter the classroom quietly and do not disrupt the class.
Urban Homeschoolers strives to be an inclusive, respectful and tolerant space. Disrespect from anyone, child or adult, within the Urban Homeschoolers community is not tolerated.
For the health and safety of our community, Urban Homeschoolers reserves the right to move classes from in-person to online. As we publish registration, the situation with the pandemic is fluid and we must be able to respond to circumstances as they develop. All our classes are designed to move seamlessly from online to in person. We are developing strategies for on-campus classes that meet the recommendations of health experts. When it is safe to do so, we will hold classes on campus. We understand that not every family will be able to return to campus when others are able. With that in mind, we have an option for students to continue to still attend class virtually.
Animals are not allowed inside the building per our rental agreement, except for service dogs.
Codes of Conduct
At Urban Homeschoolers, we believe in teachable moments. We strive to find the teachable moment in every situation, and we encourage students and families to do the same. In cases of conflict, we work with each student involved to facilitate dialogue, empathy, and a friendly resolution whenever possible.
On the rare occasion when a resolution cannot be reached, we meet with both parent and child to determine the best possible resolution. It is our policy to create a safe environment for personal expression, points of view, and respect for differing learning styles for all our students.
If a student cannot abide by our policies of inclusion, respect and safety, we will not be able to include that student in our program.
