Waitlists
WAITLISTS...
When enrolling on a waitlist for a class that is at capacity, it is assumed that you are enrolling in a "VIRTUAL ONLY" class. You will be charged tuition accordingly. If a space becomes available, you will be notified and given the option to move to HYBRID/IN-PERSON participation.
When enrolling, if your intention is to only participate in our VIRTUAL platform and do not wish to participate in-person, please inform NSD.
**In the HYBRID model classes, 2 missed in-person classes will move that student to VIRTUAL ONLY participation. If space allows, that student may be offered another opportunity to participate in-person, based upon waitlist and attendance.
Covid 19 Exposure
I acknowledge that I am aware of the contagious nature of the Coronavirus/Covid-19.
I understand that NSD is permitting individuals to enter the premises and that there is a possibility of exposure to Covid-19 if I/my child(ren) choose to participate in-person. I further acknowledge that NSD has put in place preventative measures to reduce the spread of Coronavirus/Covid-19. I further acknowledge that NSD cannot guarantee that I will not become infected with the Coronavirus/Covid-19. I understand that the risk of becoming exposed to and/or infected by the Coronavirus/Covid-19 may result from the actions, omissions, or negligence of myself and others, including, but not limited to NSD staff, other NSD clientele and their families. I voluntarily seek the services provided by NSD and acknowledge that I am increasing my risk to exposure to the Coronavirus/Covid-19. I acknowledge that I must comply with all set procedures to reduce the spread while on NSD premises.
I attest that: *I am not experiencing any symptoms of illiness, such as cough, shortness of breath, fever, sore throat or other symptoms associated with the Coronavirus/Covid-19. *I have not travelled internationally within the last 14 days. *I have not traveled to a highly impacted area within the United States in the last 14 days. *I do not believe that I have been exposed to someone with a suspected and/or confirmed case of the Coronavirus/Covid-19. I hereby release and agree to hold NSD harmless from, and waive on behalf of myself, my heirs, and any personal representatives any and all causes of action, claims, demands, damages, costs, expenses, and compensation for damage or loss to myself and/or property that may be caused by any act, or failure to act of NSD, or that may otherwise arise in any way in connection with any services received from NSD. I understand that this release discharges NSD from any liability or claim that I, my heirs, or any personal representatives may have against NSD with respect to any bodily injury, illness, death, medical treatment or property damage that may arise from, or in connection to, any services received from NSD. This liability waiver and release extends to NSD together with all owners, partners, and employees.
NSD Policies - Tuition & Fees
REGISTRATION: An annual registration fee of $35 for single student, $50 for 2 or more children in a family is due at the time of sign-up and is non-refundable. Incidental fees such as recital tickets, costume fees, extra rehearsal fees, etc., are NOT included in tuition & registration fees and will be set as needed. Tuition and Registration fees are subject to change.
TUITION: Monthly Tuition is processed electronically set up as an auto-pay, drawn on the 5th of each month. The auto-debit can be set up through a credit card or debit card with the Visa, MasterCard or Discover logo. The numbers of days that classes are in session are totaled to produce an average MONTHLY tuition cost. The tuition amount remains the same from month to month, regardless of how many weeks are in a given month or when holidays fall. Classes and/or teachers are subject to change without notice. A 10% prepay discount is available to those who wish to pay in advance for the full year.
Return payment or check fee is $30. Delinquent Accounts: Accounts delinquent more than 30 days accrue a 15% charge/month on delinquent amounts. Accounts with amounts delinquent more than 60 days may be dropped from classes.
It is assumed that your enrollment will continue month to month. You are responsible for monthly tuition billed to your account until the school year comes to an end in June. If you wish to terminate enrollment or withdraw from a class, ONE MONTH NOTICE IS REQUIRED. A Withdrawal Form must be filled out and signed by the 5th of the month, to be effective the 5th of the following month. You agree to pay tuition for the classes you (myself/son/daughter, etc.) are enrolled in up until the final cancellation date. This notice requirement includes ALL classes that dancers are enrolled in. Example, if your dancer is enrolled in Ballet & Jazz and would no longer like to take Jazz, one month's notice must be given in writing and the withdrawal form must be filled out one month prior, even if your dancer will continue to be enrolled in the Ballet class. In the event of a withdrawal on prepaid annual tuition, the annual tuition discount will be forfeited in the refund and a 5% fee will be assessed on the tuition amount to be refunded to cover administrative costs, transaction charges, etc.*
SPRING GALA RECITAL COSTUMES: Non-refundable costume DEPOSITS of $35/class are posted in November and due by Nov. 16th. Costume BALANCES are posted after the final costume order in February and are due by March 15th. Costume fees not paid by the due dates will be auto-withdrawn from the card on file with NSD. At the start of the Session, NSD provides and opportunity to have costume fees deducted with a Recital Bundle option - UPDATE: RBs are not available for the 2020-21 Session. Costume Fees are not refundable. Costumes may need minor alterations to better fit individual dancers. Parents are responsible for any needed alterations.
Covid 19: Please refer to our COVID RESPONSE tab on nwschoolofdance.com for our procedures to prevent the spread of disease and keep our Dancers, Families and Staff safe. The current mandates require us to sanitize classrooms between each in-person class. To accommodate this mandate, students may be released up to 15 minutes prior to scheduled class end time. Parents should be prepared to retrieve their Dancer(s) 15 minutes prior to posted end of class times, as we are unable to have students on the premises and maintain social distancing requirements.
NSD Policies - Attendance/Dress Code
ATTENDANCE: In the event of missed classes, tuition will not be refunded. Students have the opportunity to make-up any missed classes by attending another class, in that Session, at their level, within 30 days of the missed class. Students are responsible for attending all classes regularly. If a student fails to attend class for 4 consecutive classes, they may be removed from the class roster and in order to re-enroll you will need to pay a $15 re-enrollment fee. Re-enrollment will be contingent on space availability in the class. The last month of classes (following the Spring Gala recital) is used to evaluate and place students for the following regular Session. Failure to attend may impact class placement until evaluated.
**In the HYBRID model classes, 2 missed in-person classes will move that student to VIRTUAL ONLY participation. If space allows, that student may be offered another opportunity to participate in-person, based upon waitlist and attendance.
TARDINESS: Classes are constructed in a logical manner to warm up and develop the necessary musculature and skill to attain proper technique. Missing the first exercises puts a student in jeopardy as improper warm-up can result in injury. If the instructor deems it appropriate, a student more than 10 minutes late may be asked to sit out for the day and observe. This is to prevent injury and minimize disruptions of the learning experience for the other class members.
DRESS CODE: All students should be dressed appropriately for their specific class - please refer to Parent Handbook. Students not properly attired may be asked to sit & observe class. Appropriate shoes are required for all dance classes - no street shoes on dance floors. Hip Hop requires shoes that are worn ONLY in class - NEVER outside. Avoid strong perfumes or cologne as they could be overpowering to your classmates and a distraction for everyone. Please be sure all dance items are marked clearly with your child's name. NSD is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Dancers should wear their hair controlled for class so that the instructor can see the line the neck and head have in relation to the body. Long hair should be tied back. For ballet, no pony tails or hanging hair - it should be in a bun or wrapped braid, short hair should be held back with a barrette or band, so that it will not interfere with learning.
CLOSINGS: Northwest School of Dance's school year runs approximately mid-September through mid-June for Regular Session and mid-July to mid-August for Summer Session. Classes will meet regularly on a weekly basis unless otherwise noted. Refer to our website 2020 Studio Annual Calendar for our closed dates. No classes will be held during these dates.
In the event of inclement weather, Northwest School of Dance may opt to hold classes through the Virtual Classroom platform. If the decision is made to cancel classes, Families will be emailed. Emergency closures will be on our website & Facebook page. Parents: please use your judgment in bad driving conditions-safety is our first priority - you choose to participate through the Virtual Classroom, rather than in-person.
ANNUAL STUDIO PRODUCTION / SPRING GALA: Northwest School of Dance will hold an annual production in the Spring to showcase the hard work and talents of all the students. This is a fun opportunity for kids to perform in the dance styles they've been practicing all year, and a great opportunity to invite your families and friends to come watch your kids' performance. This year's show week will take place June 1-6. With gathering restrictions, the place and platform will be announced closer to the dates. It is assumed that all students enrolled in classes will take part in this performance and you agree to pay fees accrued, unless the studio is notified - prior to incurring costs. Fees are NOT refundable. Students may be in multiple shows. Families are responsible for purchasing any additional tickets.
It is studio policy that students enrolled at NSD may not be a competitive dancer with another studio or be competing as an independent.
