Kindergarten children are picked up by a UASP staff member at their classroom at school dismissal time, and escorted to the program. 1st-5th Graders arrive at the program via an unsupervised walk from their classrooms down to the After School Program space in the lower level of the school, immediately following school dismissal time. During this time, students are responsible for their own arrival to the program. Upon reaching the After School Program space in the lower level, children in 1st-5th grade must immediately check in with the UASP staff member taking attendance, at which point the program becomes responsible for the child.
A UASP staff member will meet 6th graders at Bigelow Middle School at school dismissal time to sign them into the program and escort them to the Underwood School. 6th grade students planning to arrive later than school dismissal time will be responsible for getting to the Underwood After School Program on their own and must check in with a UASP staff member immediately upon arrival, at which point the Program becomes responsible for the child.
If your child does not attend the Underwood Elementary School or Bigelow Middle School, you are responsible for providing transportation to the program each day. Children arriving at the program from other locations must check in with a UASP staff member immediately upon arrival, at which point the Program becomes responsible for the child.
If someone other than your child will be responsible for their arrival at the program, OR if they will be arriving from a location other than Underwood or Bigelow, please contact email@example.com.
My child has permission to go on short walking trips with the Underwood After School Program at any time during his/her scheduled day at the after school. In addition, s/he may go on trips on public or rented bus, such as for apple picking, bowling, museums, zoos, and other destinations. Parents will always be notified ahead of time, in writing, about planned field trips that involve long walks, buses, or other transportation, and may or may not choose to sign up their child for each activity, which will require an additional permission slip.
UASP operates on all regularly scheduled school days during the school year, from school dismissal time until 6:00 PM daily, with possible change in closing time on special early release days (typically days prior to major holidays). The Program does not operate on school-observed holidays, or on holidays that fall during school vacation weeks (this may include Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, Presidents' Day, and Patriot's Day). The Board of Directors may on occasion specify other dates on which the program will not be in operation.
The Program does not operate during December vacation days. During February and April school vacation weeks, UASP provides OPTIONAL care, at an additional and separate daily tuition rate of $65 per day for enrolled children; $75 for non-enrolled children. The Program will be open from 8:15 AM - 5:30 PM on all February and April vacation days during which the school building is open for use, providing that a sufficient number of children have signed up for care on those days. The daily tuition fee will not be returned in the case of a child who is signed up but does not attend. On the rare occasion that there are not enough children to run the program on a given day, the Executive Director will notify all families one week in advance of that date. If the Program must cancel a pre-scheduled date, all payments for that day will be refunded to registered families.
