ENROLLMENT: NBPAA dba Contessi Ballet has an "Open Enrollment" policy for all classes. Currently enrolled families will be given priority registration. Performances require enrollment in a class unless specifically invited. Enrollment for a performance, after September each year, requires an instructor recommendation. Please speak with your class instructor if you are interested in performing.
DRESS CODE: (please see the General Information Dress Code and Tuition sheet for details.) NO JEWELRY OR WATCHES are to be worn in the classroom and NO GUM is allowed. Students should be properly attired before entering the classroom. Students should wear a cover-up over ballet attire when they arrive and leave the studio. The art of ballet is a form of discipline and the required dress code should be followed and respected by each student.
ATTENDANCE: Students are expected to attend their classes on a regular basis. Please Notify the school by phone if a student is unable to attend a class. A make-up class will be allowed if taken within 30 days from the missed class. The student may select any regularly scheduled class time for the make-up as long as space allows. Please confirm with the instructor before attending a make-up class. If students desire to be in a performance, there will be restrictions as to the number of classes that may be missed prior to the performance.
PUNCTUALITY: It is important that students arrive on time and are ready to dance at their scheduled class time. A student will not be allowed to participate in class if they arrive more than 15 minutes late unless they have prior approval from the instructor. They must sit quietly and observe the remainder of the class. Plese do not make it a regular occurrence to pull a student out early from class as it is disruptive to the other participants and the student does not benefit from taking a partial class.
DISCONTINUANCE: It is assumed that a student is enrolled and committed to dance for an entire semester. A student will be given two weeks into the semester to drop his or her classes without being responsible for the semester tuition. Should a student enroll after the semester has commenced, tuition will be prorated.
DROPPING OFF/PICKING UP: Students should not be dropped off more than 15 minutes before class. Students under 12 should remain on the front porch during nice weather and/or over in the corner by the desk during inclement weather. If outside they should be supervised by the parent or guardian until the instructor indicates that it is time for the students to enter the classroom. Students over 10 years of age should not be picked up more than 10 minutes after class and should remain quietly just inside the door until their ride arrives. Parents of Guardians of children under 10 shall arrive before the end of their children's class time. Students and parents shall take off shoes before walking on the marley floor.
LEVEL ADVANCEMENT: Our curriculum can only provide a solid foundation in dance by taking into consideration each student's own physical and emotional maturity, coordination skills, and personal body mobility and strength. Of primary concern to all NBPAA, dba Contessi Ballet instructors is the safety involved in the proper development of the muscle groups. Students may advance only when they are ready to take on an additional set of challenges and they have been formally assessed by their instructors and/or the Artistic Director. This policy differs from how students typically experience their year-to-year promotions in school (and parents may be called upon for gently reminders to "keep working" while their bodies are growing!) It is always good to remember that although unrequited expectations for advancement may be disappointing initially, the prospect of injury in a higher-level class is never an alternative.
Please note that when a student does not attend the recommended curriculum for each level, promotion with classmates is not guaranteed. Age is the primary consideration for class placement for Kinder Ballet and levels I through V. NBPAA level placements always seek to insure the very best learning environment for each child individually.
POINTE WORK: Students wishing to dance on pointe must be formally assessed and recommended by the Artistic Director and commit to a minimum of 6 hours per week.
TUITION POLICY: Tuition will be processed upon enrollment (unless enrolled as a "Trial"). Tuition is semester based and divided into 5 payments for fall/winter, 5 payments for spring/winter and one fixed fee payment for the summer session. Some months may have more classes, some have less. Tuition will not be adjusted due to missed classes, or holidays, or school closures. Tuition is non-refundable. To participate in a performance, additional performance fees are charge to cover costs.
Tuition covers costs of classes only and does not cover costs for master classes, performance fees, etc. Additional costs will apply if you choose to participate in these additional activities.
NBPAA dba Contessi Ballet must be notified of withdrawl in writing within two(2) weeks into any semester.
PLEASE NOTE A $10.00 late fee will be applied if tuition is not paid by the due date and there is a $30.00 returned check fee.
REGISTRATION FEE: You will be charged an annual registration fee of $120.00 to cover the cost of insurance. This fee can be paid in two installments of $60.00 each. The first installment is due at the registration of FALL/WINTER Semester and the second installment is due at the registration of the WINTER/SPRING Semester. The fee covers both the School year and the Summer Session. If a student registers only for the SUMMER Semester, you will be charged a $50.00 registration fee.
DISCIPLINE POLICY: Should a student be tardy, not following dress code, habitually absent or is disrespectful in any way: Warning #1: If a student is late, habitually absent, disrespectful or not in proper dress, the teacher will speak to them privately after class. Warning #2: A meeting will be made with student, parents, teacher and Artistic Director to discuss problem and a solution. Warning #3: If the negative behavior continues, without correction from the student, or support from the parents NBPAA dba Contessi Ballet may suggest that our program is not the best fit for the student.
NON-DISCRIMINATION POLICY: North Bay Performing Arts Association dba Contessi Ballet school accepts students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admission policies, scholarship programs, and athletic and other school administered programs.
COMMUNICATION: We ask that you try not to talk to instructors between classes, as they need time to prepare themselves and their lessons before each class. Every student is entitled to receive his/her full instruction time. You may also leave a message on the school phone (707-242-3478) if you would like to communicate in person. Email will also be a primary means of correspondence - please direct any new contact information to firstname.lastname@example.org.
